Combining my love for old hand painted signs and eccentric lettering I've created a series of framed paintings now on sale at Jonathan Adler Stores in NYC. Using vivid color I wanted these works to bring a Pop sensibility to strange sayings, quirky words and humorous expressions.

NYC Chalk Map Mural

I was commissioned by an interior architect to hand draw an accurate to-scale map of lower Manhattan.

Little BG Wrap Around Central Park Murals

The Interior department at Bergdorf Goodman had me design and hand paint for the Little BG area a whole room wide mural that featured scenes from Central Park. Main walls focussed on key Central Park locations such as the Belvedere Castle, the Carousel and the Sheep Meadow. 

Bette Midler's 2012 Hulaween

For Bette Midler's 2012 Hulaween at the Waldorf Astoria, I was approached by designer Douglas Little to paint the central backdrop for the stage. Blondie was performing and he wanted an image of a Devil puppeteer controling the events on stage. For inspiration, I looked to old posters of magician Harry Kellar, headshots of a young Vincent Price, and handsome photographs of movie star Errol Flynn. The results can be seen in the assorted images below.

5th Avenue Trompe L'Oeil backdrops for Bergdorf Goodman

Bergdorf had me created five huge trompe L'Oeil backdrops for an entire 5th avenue roll out. The murals were painted larger than the back wall of the window so that they themselves could then be draped, adding dimension to the already dimensional rendering of the murals. You can see the progress images of these murals in an earlier post on this blog.

My painted murals were featured in Paper Magazine's 2012 September issue, in an editorial spread photographed by Autumn De Wilde and art directed by the amazing Bret Day Windam. The spread is titled "Am I Dreaming?" and my equestrian themed murals set the scene for this hazy adolescent fantasy. 

Art Installations for Jonathan Alder's Shelter Island home

Jonathan Alder contacted me and asked me to do two projects for his beautiful home in Shelter Island. This first was this hand painted typeface mural on rough sawn lumber in his master bathroom.

The other project was an installation of nautical themed yarn drawings in the guest bedroom hallway.

Rufus Wainwright "Out of the Game" shoot

For Rufus Wainwright's newest album "Out of the Game" the stylist Ryan Schaefer had me create a faux marble floor for this Tina Tyrell photoshoot .
